Welcome to Dutch Goat Auctions

From Family to Freight—A Different Kind of Adoption Story

Dutch Goat Auctions started with a single Amazon store and a simple idea: put a lollipop in every order. Our son William—who was four at the time—came up with the name Freelollipop.com, and it stuck.

But this wasn’t just a side hustle. At the time, our family was growing—fast. Over the course of 12 years, we adopted three sibling groups from foster care, adding to our two biological kids. That made twelve of us. We figured there were two ways we knew how to raise a big family: on a farm, like Annica was raised, or in a family business, like Russell was.

So we packed up our home in the Salt Lake suburbs and moved to Oakley, Idaho—Annica’s hometown—to give both a shot: family business and goats. The goats didn’t stick. But the name did. In honor of the Dutch Landrace goats we hoped to raise, we opened our retail store: Dutch Goat Trading Co.

As the business grew, we found our niche: handling one-off, orphaned products that didn’t belong in traditional liquidation or retail. Freight exceptions. Export failures. Insurance write-offs. Manufacturer overruns. Items with no barcode, no category, and no clear resale path. The kind of stuff that falls out of the system—often bound for landfills or incinerators.

That’s where we come in.

Eventually, we transitioned into what we’re now known for: Dutch Goat Auctions, a unique auction platform designed to move mixed, small-quantity inventory efficiently and transparently.

We specialize in uncatalogued product—items too valuable to discard, too individual to mass-list, and too complex for standard resale. While the comparison isn’t literal, and only became clear in hindsight, there’s a familiar thread in our story: it doesn’t matter where something—or someone—comes from. What matters is what you do once it’s in your care.

Every one of our kids has worked in the business at some point. Some of their best memories come from the days when all 12 of us would line up like a well-oiled machine—unloading trucks together in an assembly line, each person doing their part. Today, two of our daughters help lead the operation, which has grown beyond just the family.

We’re a tight-knit team handling high-volume, non-standard inventory—the kind most businesses don’t have the process, patience, or people to manage. That’s where we thrive.
